Dating from the late nineteenth-century, this superb artichoke and asparagus platter and cradle was made by the Longchamp faience. The shape of an unraveled bouquet of asparagus is typical of majolica from Longchamp, Luneville and Saint Clement from this period. This will make a lovely addition to a collection of antique majolica and barbotine.
The Longchamp faience was near Dijon in the Burgundy region and they made majolica asparagus and oyster services.
