Dating from the nineteenth century, this repoussé parclose mirror is made from hammered copper. Note the cornocopia bouquets in the corners and the pair of perokeets within the pediment, indicating that this is a marriage mirror - the two birds (parakeets) represent the couple coming together in marriage. The frame is also decorated with a frieze of roses, adding to the festive symbolism of the mirror.

Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.

Heavy wear and rustic condition consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 43" high x 23¼" x 3¼" deep
