Mid-20th-Century French Folding Garden Table w/ Green Finish- 27¼" x 27½"

This French folding garden table dates from the mid-20th century. It has a square top with softly rounded corners, recently repainted in a deep green that remains in good condition. The surface retains a subtly uneven texture, allowing traces of earlier paint layers beneath to remain perceptible and giving the top more depth than a completely renewed finish. The iron base is composed of crossed supports and curved lower braces, with a slightly asymmetrical folding mechanism that gives the table a particularly distinctive profile. Pivoting joints allow the base to fold relatively easily beneath the top for storage, while areas of red paint, oxidation and wear remain visible on the ironwork. 

Designed as practical, movable furniture for terraces and courtyards, the table is relatively lightweight and folds away easily. Its crossed folding base does limit legroom, making it better suited to drinks, serving or occasional use than to seated meals. The layered paintwork and slightly irregular geometry retain all the charm of vintage garden furniture and add to its relaxed character.
