An authentic mid-20th century industrial wall sconce, this piece pairs a rounded cast iron body painted in soft gray with a thick domed glass lens etched "Mabelec Amiens" and protected by a wire guard. Produced in France in the 1950s for workshops and industrial settings, it exemplifies sturdy engineering and pared back utility. The surface shows a timeworn finish with light oxidation and small scuffs consistent with use, while the porcelain socket and mounting lugs speak to its solid construction.
Its compact, sculptural form suits a hallway, mudroom, kitchen nook, or study where a quiet industrial note is desired. Use it as a wall sconce or orient it as a flush mount ceiling light, pairing with a warm filament bulb to soften the metalwork and glass. The piece brings an understated, purposeful character to both contemporary and traditional interiors, offering a refined contrast to wood, stone, and painted plaster.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
