A mid-20th-century Italian silver-plated champagne bucket in the form of a gentleman’s top hat, dating to around the 1960s. The crisp, sculptural form features a broad rolled brim and shows a softly mottled patina with light scuffs and surface wear consistent with use, including a small dent to the rim. Marked underneath.
Novelty-form barware gained popularity in the mid-20th century, combining clean, modern lines with a playful edge. Silver-plated over a base metal and hand-finished, this example takes the form of a top hat, evoking formal entertaining while remaining distinctly decorative.
Well suited to a bar, drinks trolley, or console, its distinctive top hat form brings a playful yet refined sculptural element to an interior. It can be used to chill a bottle or repurposed as a vessel for plants, adding light and a polished accent to a setting.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
