An ornate Italian Neo-Rococo five-light wall sconce, dating from the mid-20th century. The carved and painted wooden backplate is finished in soft celadon with gilt highlights and features a central cartouche painted in shades of grey to evoke the appearance of a foxed mirror, subtly enhancing the reflection of light. Richly ornamented with rocaille scrolls, rosettes, and a shell crest, it supports five gracefully curved patinated tole arms fitted with cream candle sleeves and clear pressed-glass bobeches hung with faceted teardrop prisms that beautifully catch and refract the light. The sconce is in good vintage condition, with an attractively aged patina throughout. The carved backplate displays gentle rubbing, scattered paint losses, and stable age-related cracks that enhance its authentic character. The candle sleeves exhibit expected wear, and the pressed-glass bobeches have a few light surface scratches consistent with age and use.
