This pair of French Louis XVI style Art Deco fauteuils, mid-20th century, is carved in beech and retains an original celadon green paint. Each chair has a rectilinear back with an oval caned medallion framed by pearl beading and topped with a ribbon-tied laurel crest. Scroll arms, rosettes, and a bowed seat rail with laurel carving enhance the neoclassical design, while tapering fluted legs give an elegant lift. Loose cushions in pale peach and cream patterned fabric rest over the caned seats. With their charming fatigued caned seats, they remain functional but are better suited for decorative use or as accent chairs.
These fauteuils reflect the French love of Louis XVI revival styles in the early to mid-20th century, when classical symmetry was reinterpreted with cleaner lines and a softer, urbane palette.
The medallion backs, laurel motifs, and celadon finish create a look that is both decorative and romantic, ideal for flanking a console, brightening a boudoir, or adding charm to a serene bedroom or sitting room. Light in profile yet rich in detail, they pair easily with marble, mirror, and contemporary art, lending elegance and quiet romance to a wide range of interiors.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
