A three-piece tea or coffee service by Villeroy & Boch, Germany, mid-20th century, in the Burgenland pattern, inspired by 19th-century transferware designs. The set comprises a tall baluster pot with domed lid and loop finial, a double-handled lidded sugar bowl, and a creamer. Blue transfer-printed landscapes decorate each piece, depicting romantic scenes of ruins, villages, and wooded countryside, framed by delicate floral borders and a beaded rim, with a hand-painted accent highlighting the spout and handles. The decoration remains crisp, with a rich depth of color. No chips or cracks observed, but the teapot shows light tea staining to the interior consistent with use.
Beautiful on a kitchen dresser or breakfast table, this service introduces a gentle blue accent against neutral ceramics and linens, and is equally suited to serving or display.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
