An elegant French mid-20th-century silver-plated champagne bucket, nicely proportioned and fitted with striking twin lion-mask ring handles. The clean, slightly tapered body is enlivened by crisp, patterned bands encircling the top and base, catching the light with a refined rhythm. The lion-head handles, a classical motif symbolizing strength, recall designs favored since the Empire period and lend a touch of grandeur and glamour. The surface retains a pleasing mirror-like sheen, softly mellowed by use. In very good condition, with light surface marks and small specks of tarnish consistent with age, it remains solid and functional for a single bottle.
At home on a bar cart or console, it lends instant polish to an evening service with a bottle on ice and a linen towel draped from one ring. Off duty, style it as a vase for hydrangeas or olive branches, or group it with crystal stems for a quietly luxurious vignette.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
