A striking mid-century French concrete garden sculpture depicting a bird in motion, dating to the 1950s. Captured with wings outstretched as if just about to take flight, the form is boldly stylized, with broad, textured wings and a forward-leaning stance that conveys a strong sense of movement and energy. The simply rendered head and beak add to its naïve, expressive character.
The surface bears a richly weathered patina, with remnants of white paint softened over time and areas of exposed concrete creating a mottled, chalky texture. Traces of green paint remain at the base, now partially overgrown with moss and lichen, adding depth and a vivid sense of natural aging. Minor losses are consistent with long outdoor exposure and enhance its authenticity. A fixing bolt is visible at the base, originally intended to secure the sculpture in place outdoors, now a quiet trace of its original setting and use.
Full of presence and sculptural appeal, this piece works beautifully in a garden or on a terrace. Indoors, it becomes a striking decorative accent, its dynamic form and weathered surface bringing a touch of poetic movement to the space.
