Mid-Century Murano Amber Glass Lantern w/ Ornate Iron Cage - 21¼"

This mid-20th-century Murano caged-glass lantern has a richly molded, sculptural form in mouth-blown amber-tinted glass, enclosed within an ornate metal cage. The warm glass is shaped into deep rounded lobes, with a rippled surface that creates subtle variations in tone and texture, while the cage follows its contours with stylized leaf and scroll motifs. The naturally developed rust patina of the metal provides a beautiful contrast with the luminous amber glass, which also shows gentle clouding in places. Together, these age-related details give the lantern a softly timeworn character. The lower section opens to access the bulb by loosening the small fittings near the base of the cage; the screws and bolts have been replaced to make this easier.

Equally appealing switched off or lit, the lantern has a strong atmospheric presence: the amber glass softens the light while the darkened ironwork stands out against its glow. Its sculptural form would work particularly well in an entrance hall, stairwell or above a dining table, bringing warmth, texture and character to the space.
