From the kitchen at Chanteduc, Patricia and Walter's farmhouse and cooking school in Vaison-la-Romaine, comes this sweet miniature ceramic bowl, barely larger than a lemon, nestled in its original tightly woven dark wicker cradle. The interior is glazed in warm ochre-yellow with a vivid green rim, and at the centre, a hand-painted tree spreads its full canopy in deep olive and forest green above a russet trunk. Patricia explains that the tree resembles the great oak in the garden at Chanteduc — the very tree that inspired her iconic logo, the red tree and red lettering that have become synonymous with her name and her cooking school. Settled in its wicker cradle, the bowl is as practical as it is pleasing. Use it for a pinch of fleur de sel, a few olives or a single fig — small things that deserve their own moment. It would sit happily on a kitchen shelf, a cheese board or a bedside table, and it rewards a second look every time.
