This superb, large and heavy table lamp dates from the 1960s (possibly earlier) and was owned by Vasco Gasquet (1931-2009). The light and arm are chrome and the base is marble with cut outs for pens and pencils. There is a handle opposite the lampshade that can be unscrewed to adjust the position of the light along the arm. There is a dent on the lampshade.
Vasco Gasquet was a rebellious modern artist whose work evolved to pop art at the end of his career. He created works that he described as 'anti-painting'. His works were inspired by Frenand Léger, Piet Mondrian and Kazimir Malevich.
