This impressively scaled late-19th-century French giltwood mirror features an arched frame richly carved with scrolling foliage and a central acanthus leave crest. Crafted in France circa 1880–1900, it retains its original single mirror plate, which is remarkably clear with only a few areas of light speckling and faint staining that enhance its antique character. The carved wood and gesso frame holds a warm gilt finish with soft patination and light rubbing to the high points. A small loss is present at the bottom left corner. Monumental in presence, the mirror reads as an architectural element. It can crown a large mantel, define an entry hall, or be leaned casually against a wall to amplify both light and verticality. The generous plate creates depth and brightness, while the mellow gold frame and delicate carvings bring warmth and refinement. The arched shape adds a sculptural curve that enriches the room’s character.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
