A finely carved solid rosewood low chair dating from the Napoleon III period, circa 1870. The tall openwork back is centred by an oval medallion carved with an elaborate ribbon-tied trophy of musical instruments, framed by delicate foliage and beadwork. Turned finials, fluted stiles, and tapered legs complete a richly detailed composition that retains an elegant sense of balance.
The richly carved rosewood frame remains in good condition, with light surface wear consistent with age and use. The seat is upholstered in pale silk, now torn in places to reveal what is likely the original floral needlepoint beneath. The later silk may be removed to reveal this charming earlier upholstery or replaced entirely, allowing the chair to be adapted to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
Its compact proportions make it easy to place throughout the home, while the richly carved musical trophy brings elegance and a touch of poetic charm. As an unexpected accent in a bedroom or entrance hall, it celebrates the artistry of fine wood carving while while contributing to a carefully collected interior.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
