This oval glass marriage dome dates from the nineteenth-century Napoleon III period. The contents were added at the start of the twentieth century, including a porcelain angel and gold birds and leaves. Marriage domes were often used to display keepsakes like the bride's dried wedding bouquet, and ornaments were added at significant moments in the couple's lives.
