A charming French country confiturier in fir, dating to the late 19th century and retaining its beautifully weathered original paint. The narrow form features a pair of recessed-panel doors above a deep plinth base, its simple, utilitarian construction softened by a wonderfully layered patina in muted grey, cream, and natural wood tones. An old iron hook-and-eye latch secures the doors, replacing the original lock that has lost its key, while the interior has been refreshed with painted shelving for practical everyday use. Presented in good antique condition, with age-related wear, weathered finish and minor marks that contribute to its authentic rustic character.
Originally intended for storing preserves and pantry staples, cupboards of this type were essential fixtures in French country kitchens. Today, its narrow proportions make it very versatile. Whether used in a kitchen, pantry, bathroom, or entry, it brings warmth, texture, and the relaxed charm of a French farmhouse interior. The beautifully weathered paint surface and understated lines allow it to blend effortlessly with both traditional country décor and more contemporary interiors seeking character and authenticity.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
