Near Pair of French Gilt Bronze and Cut Crystal Cage Chandeliers, c. 1950 - 46½"

A beautiful near pair of French gilt bronze and cut crystal eight-light cage chandeliers, dating from around 1950. Each chandelier features eight outer candle-form lights complemented by four discreet internal lights nestled within the lower cage, beautifully illuminating the profusion of hand-cut crystal pendants, rosettes, and the crystal sphere finial below. Subtle variations in the upper coronets, crystal arrangements, and overall height reflect their nature as a fausse paire, lending each fixture its own distinct character. Presented with chain and silk sleeves, both are in very good antique condition, with gentle oxidation to the gilt bronze and light wear to the candle sleeves. Owing to a slight difference in overall height between the two chandeliers, their hanging heights can be easily matched by adjusting the suspension chains. 

Elegant and richly decorative, these chandeliers create a spectacular display of light and sparkle without overwhelming a space. Their generous yet airy proportions make them ideal above a long dining table, in a double reception room, or flanking adjoining spaces, while a single chandelier would be equally striking in an entry hall, stair landing, or principal bedroom.  Although offered as a pair, the chandeliers may also be purchased individually.
