Dated 1722, this two tier cupboard from the Dolomites in Northern Italy is crafted from solid pine with a molded cornice and raised on small shaped bracket feet that lift the piece slightly off the ground, giving the robust form a lighter and more balanced stance. Each tier features a single door, opening to interiors fitted with shelves that provide ample storage despite the cupboard’s relatively shallow proportions. The original rustic iron hardware remains in place, including hand forged hinges, while the locks are later replacements from the late 19th or early 20th century and remain functional.

The cupboard retains its beautifully preserved original 18th century hand painted decoration in deep umber with teal, sage, russet, and ochre accents. Floral bouquets and foliate motifs are rendered in a naïve Baroque hand within framed panels, bringing together folk charm and quiet refinement. The surface shows gentle age and wear with small losses, abrasions, and age cracks consistent with its long history, contributing to the rich patina and character of this striking example of Alpine vernacular craftsmanship.
