An impressive Italian Capodimonte porcelain chandelier from Naples, circa 1900, richly garlanded with romantic florals and fitted with eight lights. Substantial and ornate yet retaining a sense of softness and delicacy, it features a slender baluster-form stem and eight scrolling arms, each embellished with hand-modeled blossoms and foliage in soft pink, ivory, celadon, and butter yellow. Porcelain flower pendants further enrich the arms and lower finial, while a patinated metal chain and rosette canopy complete the mount. Presented with simple new light mauve shades. Very good condition with gentle age toning to the glaze and a few tiny chips to some petals consistent with use.
Capodimonte porcelain, established under Charles of Bourbon in mid-eighteenth-century Naples, is celebrated for its sculptural modeling and luminous polychromy. By the late nineteenth century, workshops revived Rococo exuberance for Belle Époque interiors, crafting chandeliers that read as suspended bouquets. Each petal was shaped by hand, applied to the armature while still leather-hard, then painted and high fired to achieve the satiny translucence and crisp detail characteristic of Neapolitan craftsmanship.
This chandelier casts a soft, romantic glow, bringing warmth and graceful elegance to a dining room, salon, or welcoming entry. With its cascading flowers and delicate porcelain detailing, it reads almost like a suspended bouquet, adding movement, color, and a touch of old-world charm to the room.
