The village of Le Thor is in Provence. The name comes from 'toro' - as in a bull. The local story goes that a bull drank from a waterhole, on its knees. After digging in this same spot a statue of the virgin was found. The Romanesque Notre Dame du Lac was built on the site in the twelfth century.
