A striking pair of 18th century Italian wooden candlesticks with elegant turned silhouettes and beautifully timeworn surfaces. Raised on architectural tripod bases, the candlesticks display a sculptural balance between refined Baroque lines and rustic character, enhanced by a rich warm patina acquired over centuries of use.
The pair was later converted to electricity at some point in their history and still retains traces of this former adaptation, visible beneath the bases and along the structure. They could easily be rewired once again if desired.
The wood shows scattered wear, old marks, and losses consistent with age, including visible old worming and areas of wear to the feet that contribute to their authentic antique character.
Their tall, slender proportions and beautiful wood grain make them particularly decorative, whether displayed on a mantel, console, or dining table. A wonderfully atmospheric pair, full of age, texture, and the soulful imperfections that give antique Italian decorative objects their enduring appeal.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
