This striking pair of vintage French garden lions dates from the 1970s and is crafted in pink-toned concrete in a classical revival style, echoing the noble presence of traditional European garden statuary.
Cast as mirror-imaged seated heraldic lions, each rests a forepaw upon a shield, their flowing manes and alert expressions recalling the traditional guardians that once flanked the entrances of grand European estates.
The blush-toned concrete was chosen to evoke the warmth of terracotta while offering greater solidity and durability for outdoor display. The surface now shows gentle darkening from age and exposure to the elements, developing a softly mottled patina with traces of moss and lichen, and scattered wear that speaks to authentic garden use. There has been a significant restoration to the base of one lion to ensure stability; the pair remains sturdy and full of character.
These lions would make a commanding statement flanking a gravel drive, garden steps, or gate piers. On a stone terrace or within a conservatory, they can anchor a seating area or mark an entry with presence. Equally striking indoors or out, they bring a touch of French grandeur and historic tradition to both formal settings and relaxed country environments.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
