A graceful pair of petite French occasional chairs from the 19th century. The carved walnut frames are delicately worked, with openwork backs of foliate scrolls, turned uprights finished with small finials, and shaped seat rails accented by rosette details. The seats are upholstered in a rich claret Lyon silk, patterned with birds and flowers, and finished with decorative flower-shaped nailheads. The front legs are subtly tapered and end in toupie feet, while the rear legs curve gently backward. Condition is very good, with a stable frame and minor staining to the upholstery.
Ideal as decorative seating in a bedroom or dressing room, they can flank a petite guéridon or a painted writing table. The warm walnut and saturated claret silk introduce color and texture, and they pair elegantly with Gustavian, Directoire, or country-house settings. Reserve for light, occasional use due to their delicate frame.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
Each measures approx. 33½" high x 17" wide x 13½" deep. Seat is 17¾" high
