A charming pair of late 19th-century French white enamelled glass mantel vases. Each flared trumpet form rises to a scalloped, petal-shaped rim highlighted with fine gilding, above a ringed knop and a circular foot accented with delicate gilt bands.
At the center of each vase, a pale blue oval medallion is hand-painted with delicate floral sprays in enamel. Encircled by fine dotted gilding and framed by slender gilt garlands of stylised foliage, the decoration recalls delicate jewellery, lending a refined, ornamental presence against the matte white ground. Light rubbing to the gilded details, along with minor age marks, is consistent with age and gentle handling.
Used as a pair on a mantel or console, or flanking a bed on matching nightstands, they bring balance and gentle refinement. Their milky surface and fine gilding create a soft, intimate glow that lends a quiet romanticism to the room.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
