Pair of Antique Genoese Wrought-Iron Twin Headboards - 50¾" x 37½"

This pair of antique Genoese wrought-iron headboards has a richly worked upper crest of broad scrolling curves, tight spirals and stylized foliate terminals, arranged above a much simpler design below, with slender curved bars meeting at the center to form a light, diamond-shaped geometric motif. Small hand-painted floral details in red and gilt are worked into the upper section, adding discreet touches of color to the dark iron, while simple round brass finials mark the corners; tiny holes at their tops suggest they may originally have carried an additional decorative element, now lost. The iron has developed a naturally worn patina with areas of rubbing and oxidation, while the painted and gilt decoration has softened over time, giving the pair a richly aged, atmospheric character.

Originally made for two single beds, they can still be used separately as twin headboards fixed to the wall, or placed side by side to create a highly decorative backdrop for a queen-size bed. The open ironwork and faded painted details bring genuine antique character while keeping the overall effect light and decorative.
