This pair of French cast iron jardinières circa 1900 features a gracefully contoured rectangular bombe trough form with a scalloped, decorative gallery rim, crisp rosette finials, and sturdy scrolled feet. Each side presents an ornate oval cartouche framed by a finely cast laurel wreath and ribbon over a textured, dimensional ground, accented by rocaille-inspired corner scrolls. Finished in an aged soft white that reveals earlier blue-grey layers, they show scattered paint loss and surface oxidation inside and out, creating a richly timeworn, weathered patina while remaining in sound structural condition.
The pair can anchor an entry path or veranda when flanking steps or a doorway, planted with boxwood or geraniums, and they read beautifully on a window sill. Indoors, they can serve as cachepots with fitted liners or as handsome holders for kindling near a hearth. Their soft white palette and aged surface suit French country, Gustavian, and classical settings, and adds depth, texture, and a note of classical charm to any room or terrace.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
