An iconic pair of “Siesta” lounge chairs designed by Norwegian designer Ingmar Relling (1920–2002) for Westnofa, accompanied by their matching ottomans. Introduced in the late 1960s and celebrated internationally for its elegant balance of comfort, lightness and sculptural simplicity, the Siesta model has become one of the great classics of Scandinavian modern design. The chairs feature beautifully curved laminated wood frames supporting supple suspended leather cushions, creating the relaxed floating effect characteristic of the design.
Wonderfully comfortable yet visually lightweight, the chairs offer a relaxed seating experience while maintaining an airy, elegant silhouette. The cognac-brown leather remains beautifully supple and has been carefully maintained over time, retaining a rich depth of colour and a soft, inviting texture. Gentle creasing, subtle variations in tone and visible wear to the seat cushions reflect age and use consistent with these well-loved lounge chairs, adding warmth, authenticity and character without detracting from their refined appearance.
Deeply inviting and timelessly elegant, this pair would sit beautifully in a refined living room, quiet reading corner or thoughtfully curated modernist interior. Their warm patinated leather, sculptural wooden frames and relaxed silhouette bring an effortless sense of comfort and understated Nordic sophistication to a space.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
