Elegant and delicately proportioned, this pair of early 20th century English chairs reflects the refined decorative taste characteristic of late Victorian and Edwardian interiors. Crafted in mahogany, the chairs are distinguished by their graceful shield shaped backs with finely carved openwork splats depicting stylized water plants forming a subtle lyre motif. The frames are further enhanced by delicate marquetry inlay running from the backrests down through the front legs.
The seats are upholstered in an old patterned fabric in soft red tones, whose gently faded and timeworn appearance contributes to the authentic antique charm of the ensemble. The chairs remain stable and structurally sound, with light wear and traces of age consistent with careful use over time. The upholstery shows signs of age and could be refreshed according to taste.
Both decorative and versatile, this elegant pair would work beautifully in a bedroom, sitting room, hallway, or around a refined occasional table. Their delicate proportions are better suited to occasional seating rather than heavy daily use.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
