A handsome pair of French wrought iron wall sconces, three lights each, dating from the 1920s. The pierced backplates are formed of elegant interlacing scrolls supporting three scrolling arms with scalloped gilt-metal drip pans and candle sleeves. The hand-forged ironwork is assembled with collars, straps, and riveted details rather than welded joints, highlighting the quality of the craftsmanship. The combination of dark patinated iron and soft gilt accents creates a striking balance between strength and refinement.
Ideal flanking a mirror, doorway, fireplace, or bed, they bring warmth, depth, and atmosphere to an interior. Even when unlit, their scrolling silhouette enlivens a plain wall, bringing movement, texture, and a sense of architectural refinement to the space. Recently rewired and ready for use. Very good condition with a rich patina, light oxidation, and gentle wear to the gilded surfaces.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
