This pair of French reconstituted-stone jardinières from the 1940s displays a graceful urn form with everted rims, waisted baluster bodies, and circular plinth bases. Each side is adorned with a square lug modeled as a stylized, naïve head. The softly weathered grey stone carries a beautiful patina of green moss and lichen along the rims and bases, enhancing their timeless garden character. Well preserved and sturdy, the pair remains in very good condition with naturally aged surfaces that reflect decades of gentle outdoor use.
Ideal as a flanking pair on a terrace, at a garden entrance, or atop an entry console, these jardinières bring a quietly romantic presence to any setting. Their richly mossed and lichen-covered surfaces lend a sense of age and tranquillity, either enhancing the greenery they hold or adding texture to their sculptural presence. The mellow patina allows them to harmonize effortlessly with both rustic country gardens and serene contemporary spaces.
