A pair of French wall-mounted corner shelves in wrought iron, circa 1960s, each shaped as a graceful teardrop and richly worked with layered C- and S-scrolls. A petite demi-lune shelf sits at the center, while four curled scroll hooks below offers places to hang coats, hats, or a market basket. Both pieces are pierced for easy wall mounting, and although similar in height and depth, one is noticeably wider than the other, lending the pair a charming, hand-wrought individuality (see dimensions).
Their surfaces retain softened traces of old patina weathered to grey, with touches of oxidation and a few gentle bends from age and use. Inspired by traditional decorative ironwork, their lively scrolls evoke old balconies, garden gates, and the expressive curves of early 20th-century metalwork.
Here, the notion of a corner cabinet is reimagined in open, airy iron, an elegant solution for an entryway, garden room, or covered porch. The small shelf can hold gloves or potted plants, while straw hats and scarves can be hung from the curled hooks below.
