A large pair of wrought iron dog irons from the Louis XIV period. These were originally used for cooking. The hoops acted as supports for pots while the vertical hooks or landiers were used for roasting poultry with a counterweight - the original rotisserie! Note the back feet are extra thick to counterbalance the weight applied to the front section when cooking.

Heavy wear and rustic condition consistent with age and use.
Approx. overall 28¾" high x 9¾" wide x 19¾" deep
