A charming pair of Louis XV cabriolet fauteuils stamped by the Parisian master chair maker Blaise Maucuy, retaining their original French grey paint with a beautifully aged patina. Maucuy, who received his mastership in 1758, worked in the celebrated Bonne-Nouvelle district of Paris, home to many of the finest 18th-century chair makers. His work is appreciated for its elegant proportions, refined carving, and graceful interpretation of both Louis XV and early neoclassical forms. The elegant armchair frames display the fluid lines characteristic of the Louis XV period, with gently curved arms, cabriole legs, and delicate carved details throughout. Recently reupholstered in a chic grey cotton damask, the fabric lends the chairs a refined understated elegance while complementing the soft tones of the original paintwork.
