Pair of Mid-20th Century Sculptural Parrot Table Lamps in Glazed Ceramic - 32"

A sculptural pair of parrot table lamps from the early 20th century, modeled in ceramic and finished with a softly mottled ivory glaze accented with warm brown washes that define the feathers, bark, and ground. Each bird is shown perched on a gnarled tree trunk, its body subtly angled and head gently inclined, lending the figures a natural, attentive presence. The lamps rest on turned dark wood bases and are fitted with brass uprights terminating in simple ring finials, with a three-light cluster concealed beneath the shades.

The original parchment shades remain in place, however showing tears and discoloration , and could be replaced for a fresher presentation. One lamp shows a discreet restoration subtly blended into the featherwork and visible only on close inspection, while the other has a neat, stable firing crack at the lower ceramic mound, inherent to the making rather than later damage. Both retain their original turned wood bases with minor nicks, and the brass elements display a soft, even patina that complements the sculptural surfaces. 

These lamps lend character and a quiet sense of theater to a console, sideboard, or bedside. Fit them with new shades in natural linen, stitched parchment, or softly pleated silk to tailor the mood, and let the sculpted birds cast warm, ambient light.
