This pair of mid-20th-century Tuscan terracotta jars is hand-crafted in warm reddish clay, each with a gently tapered form, reinforced central band and thick rolled rim that reflect the practical construction of traditional olive storage vessels. The two differ slightly in height and proportion, which gives the pairing a more rhythmic, sculptural presence. Their surfaces have developed a rich, naturally weathered patina, with darker staining, pale mineral traces and varied tones across the clay. The hand-worked surfaces and softened wear give each jar its own character, while the contrast in scale makes them especially effective displayed together. One jar has a visible chip, but it remains discreet within the overall aged appearance and does not detract from the strength of the pair.
They would work beautifully in an entryway, garden room or covered terrace, used for tall branches or fresh blooms. If used with water, we recommend placing a liner inside. Together, they bring warmth, texture and Mediterranean soul to a space, while their simple forms and richly aged surfaces sit just as comfortably in rustic interiors as in more contemporary settings.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
