This romantic pair of early 20th-century gilt-bronze wall sconces is designed in the Louis XVI taste, each centered on a finely modeled basket overflowing with roses, buds and leafy stems. Two lights emerge from the floral arrangement, their holders formed as layered blossoms, while a large ribbon bow crowns the composition above and a trailing spray of roses finishes it below. Originally intended for round glass bulbs, the sconces have a distinctly Belle Époque character, with the exposed globes adding to their decorative, slightly theatrical quality.
