A pair of substantial wrought iron candelabra dating from the 1950s to 1960s, each formed with five lights rising from a hammered central stem set on an arched ring base. The iron has a dark, burnished finish with a visibly hand-worked texture, accented by scalloped drip pans and riveted joints that emphasize their artisanal construction. The design reflects the postwar revival of traditional ironwork in France, favoring honest materials and robust, pared-back forms with a distinctly architectural presence. The candelabra are in very good vintage condition, with light surface wear, scattered oxidation, and traces of candle wax that contribute to their authentic, time-earned patina. Two pairs are available, and the candles are included.
Placed on a console, sideboard, or mantel, they introduce sculptural weight and a raw, architectural presence. Their strong, graphic lines pair effortlessly with rustic timber and stone as well as sleek mid-century furnishings, making a striking centerpiece on a dining table - indoors or during alfresco evenings. Equally compelling in a spacious bathroom, their sculptural iron forms lend the space a quietly ritual, almost ceremonial atmosphere. Arranged together as symmetrical anchors or separated to layer candlelight through a space, they read as artful objects even when unlit.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
