A pair of French patinated tall cast iron table lamps handsomely converted from late 19th century candlesticks. The slender baluster columns are enriched with fluting, gadrooned collars, and leafy knops beneath scalloped drip pans, all raised on square plinth bases crisply cast with acanthus and scrollwork. Finished in a dark bronze-brown patina with warm highlights, they retain a sculptural, neoclassical presence. Their scale and ornament give them both decorative impact and versatility, while the timeworn surface, with gentle rubbing and light oxidation, adds character consistent with age.
This balanced pair brings weight and symmetry to an interior. Place them on a console in an entry, at the ends of a buffet, or flanking a mantel to frame artwork or a mirror. Their dark patina grounds lighter schemes and complements marble, stone, and ebonized woods, while the pale shades diffuse a soft, even light in a library, study, or bedroom.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
