A striking pair of mid-century hand-forged wrought iron wall sconces from the South of France, likely Vallauris work dating from the 1950s or 1960s. Combining rustic craftsmanship with subtle Gothic Revival and brutalist influences, the pieces possess a strong sculptural presence despite their modest scale.
Each sconce features two candle-style lights supported by hammered and forged iron elements with beautifully irregular surfaces that reveal the hand of the artisan. The pierced backplate allow for easy wall mounting. The restrained design, dark patinated finish and medieval-inspired silhouette give the pair a raw yet highly atmospheric character.
Both decorative and functional, they cast a warm and intimate light particularly suited to layered interiors with rustic, Mediterranean or historic influences.
A second matching pair is available, allowing for a wonderfully cohesive installation along a corridor, staircase or large room, or alternatively the possibility of distributing them throughout several spaces while maintaining visual continuity within the interior (simply put two in your basket).
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Must be rewired and installed in accordance with local electrical requirements.
