Pair of Very Tall Brass Urn Table Lamps w/ Custom-Made Felt Shades - 45"

This imposing pair of large brass urns has been mounted as table lamps, their tall, elongated proportions further emphasized by the high cylindrical shades, which give the pair a strong vertical presence. Each urn is raised on a flared pedestal foot and enriched with classical ornament, including rosettes, draped swags, fringe and pendant tassels modeled in relief around the body. The polished brass retains a warm, lively sheen, with light oxidation, surface wear and a few small dents, lending the pair the character of age without diminishing their decorative brilliance. Each lamp is fitted with a single light and topped with a tall cylindrical shade in cream felt, custom made for the pair. The interiors are finished in gold, helping to reflect the light and cast a warm glow while emphasizing the rich surface of the brass below.

The lamps have been carefully converted and electrified in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence by a passionate specialist in historic lighting who works closely with Mathieu Lustrerie, the celebrated Provençal workshop known for the restoration and recreation of important historic lighting. Particular care has been given to the quality and safety of the electrification while preserving the original surfaces and character of the urns.

Their scale, height and reflective brass give the pair considerable presence in a room. They would work especially well on a large console, sideboard or pair of chests, where the strong vertical lines and softly glowing shades can frame a composition and bring warmth and luminosity to the space.
