Inspired by antique ecclesiastical candlesticks, this pair of cast iron candlesticks dates from the 1970s and faithfully captures the grandeur of Baroque church furnishings. Their generous proportions, substantial weight, and richly modelled forms give them a commanding presence, making them striking decorative accents in both classical and contemporary interiors.
Each candlestick features a tall, fluted stem adorned with acanthus leaves, rising from a boldly sculpted tripod base with scrolling Baroque ornament and stylized paw feet. Painted to simulate an antique gilt finish, the cast iron has been deliberately rendered irregular in places to imitate the subtle imperfections of antique hand-carved wood, creating a convincing illusion of age while offering the exceptional solidity and durability of cast iron.
Their substantial weight and stability make them ideal for covered outdoor settings, where they bring architectural character and the warm ambience of candlelight throughout the year. Equally at home indoors, these sculptural candlesticks make a striking statement flanking a fireplace, framing a doorway, or standing proudly on a console.
