Inspired by antique ecclesiastical candlesticks, this pair of cast iron candlesticks dates from the 1970s and faithfully captures the grandeur of Baroque church furnishings. Each candlestick features a tall, fluted stem adorned with acanthus leaves, rising from a boldly sculpted tripod base with scrolling Baroque ornament and stylized paw feet. Painted to simulate an antique gilt finish, the cast iron has been deliberately rendered irregular in places to imitate the subtle imperfections of antique hand-carved wood, creating a convincing illusion of age while offering the exceptional solidity and durability of cast iron.
