A set of two small vintage porcelain tabletop menus from the dining table at Patricia and Walter Wells’s apartment in Paris. Glossy ivory plaques with gently undulating edges are embellished with applied pink blossoms and green leaves, the word MENU picked out in warm gold. Each stands in a self-supporting tent form, compact enough to nestle among glasses and flowers yet visible on a buffet. Very sweet, unique, and quintessentially Patricia, who loves adding special touches to the dining table when hosting. Patricia cherishes the welcoming ritual of sharing what is to come. “I would print out the menu because my handwriting isn’t neat enough for dinner parties,” Patricia explains. If you prefer to write freehand, use a non-permanent dry-erase marker made for a whiteboard. Practical and charming, these reusable menus suit a garden lunch in Provence, a soup and salad supper, or a cheese course beside the wines. Between gatherings, let them rest on a kitchen shelf or dining room sideboard, where their delicate relief and gold type offer a refined, personal note from Patricia’s table to yours.
