Petite Antique French Majolica Cabbage ware Tureen - 6¾"

A charming petite French majolica tureen modelled as a naturalistic cabbage head, dating to the early 20th century. Crafted in barbotine in the trompe-l’œil tradition, designed to imitate nature with lifelike realism, each leaf is finely detailed with crinkled veins and finished in layered green glazes that pool naturally in the folds. The lid fits neatly and is pierced to accommodate a serving spoon, a practical detail reflecting its original use. Unmarked.
A small chip to one outer leaf is present, but does not detract from its overall appeal. Compact and versatile, it works equally well as a sauce vessel, a decorative piece on a kitchen shelf, or, without the lid, as a charming cachepot for a small plant.
