A petite French stained-glass fragment from the late 19th century, salvaged from a chapel door in the village of Venasque, Provence, depicting a youthful saint, likely Joan of Arc. Hand-painted glass segments are held within their original lead cames and now mounted on clear glass within a wooden frame. The face is delicately modeled in warm flesh tones, its graceful features rendered with notable finesse and beautifully set off by the surrounding nimbus and the richly ornamented collar below. The glass displays gentle waviness and occasional seed bubbles typical of the period. Honest age-related wear, including minor edge nicks, light paint wear, stabilized lead fractures, and a small fracture to one element of the collar, attests to its history, while the fragment is now presented within a newly made panel ready for display.
Nicely proportioned and contemplative, this fragment lends a quiet radiance to an entry, library, or stair landing where daylight can ignite its tawny browns and notes of red. Place it in a window or on a sunlit sill where light can play through the figure and bring the painted details to life, or display it against a deep-toned wall or on an easel for a chapel-like accent.

Condition and patina consistent with age.
