This small Louis Philippe style mirror dates from the second half of the nineteenth century and reflects the quiet elegance favored during the period. Its softly arched frame is finished in silver leaf, now gently softened with age, and reveals a subtle bicolor character where the cool silvery surface contrasts with areas of pale cream paint. Finely incised leaf and flower motifs animate the surface with delicate detail, while a narrow beaded border traces the inner edge, adding definition and balance. The original glass remains notably clear for its age, with only minimal speckling, offering a pleasing harmony between authenticity and usability.
Perfectly scaled for intimate spaces, this mirror lends itself beautifully to a guest bath, powder room, entryway, or layered above a small chest or console. Its luminous yet restrained silver tones bring light without glare, while the subtle ornament and time softened patina add depth and character. Whether used as a functional mirror or as a decorative accent, it introduces a sense of history and understated charm that feels at ease in both classic and contemporary interiors.
Condition and patina consistent with age.
Note: Mirrors have been photographed facing fabric, a technique that reveals any age spots in the glass. In some cases, this may create the appearance of an empty frame, but each mirror is complete except where explicitly stated.
