Playful Contemporary Hand-Painted Ceramic Face Dessert Plate - 6¾"

Playful yet refined, this small contemporary handcrafted ceramic plate is hand-painted with a stylised face in expressive tones of citrus yellow, plum, chocolate brown, coral red, and black linework on a soft cream ground. The glossy glaze enhances the confident, graphic drawing and asymmetrical features, giving the face a lively personality with a subtle nod to Cubist and mid-century illustration. 

This plate is part of a larger series, though each piece is unique in colour and expression. Other plates from the same set are available here and sold individually. The underside is signed Gertrude, an artist based in Antwerp, a city long recognised for its vibrant art scene and strong tradition of studio ceramics. Condition is very good, with a bright glaze and the gentle variations expected of handmade work.

Ideal for serving dessert or small bites, the plate also works beautifully as decorative wall art, either on its own or combined with other plates from the series for a spirited display. It brings a fresh, artful note to a kitchen, dining nook, or open shelving, and can just as easily be repurposed as a cheerful catchall on a console or bedside table, adding wit and colour to everyday rituals.
