An intriguing wooden and glass vitrine box enclosing three plaster medallions.
The original wooden frame of the box is from the nineteenth century and painted black. Displayed inside are three white medallions, one rectangular and two round. Images are depicted in relief on the medallions. The rectangular one shows a reclining man, possibly wounded, wearing a helmet, while a shield and bundle of arrows appear discarded at his side. Profile portraits are carved in the two round medallions, one in what appears to be contemporary style, while the imagery of the other with the curly hair, beard and upturned face has a medieval feel about it. The central medallion is signed and dated 1880 though the name is difficult to make out. This unique piece could look interesting installed on a wall or displayed on a shelf in both traditional and modern interiors.
