A large horizontal mid 20th century coastal painting, signed Robert Turpin and dated 1964, depicting the Portuguese beach of Nazaré with fishermen, donkeys, and boats. Executed in oil on hardboard, the composition unfolds in a panoramic format, rendered in calm southern tones of sand, umber, and sky blue, with crisp attention to details such as wicker panniers and striped saddle blankets. The brushwork is measured and clear, the light soft and sun-kissed, capturing the gentle rhythm of coastal life.
