A graceful 19th-century French standing crucifix in brass, with shell-form terminals, a small INRI plaque, and a finely cast figure of Christ set against a plain cross. The stepped round base and restrained decoration give it a clean, balanced silhouette, while the small floral motif behind Christ’s head adds a delicate devotional detail. Made after the French Revolution, it reflects the revival of Catholic worship and religious craftsmanship that followed a period in which many churches were closed and countless devotional objects were confiscated, dispersed, or destroyed.
